USM MBA welcomes a new generation of students

Last April, 89 young professionals joined the Master's Program in Enterprise Administration of Federico Santa María Technical University’s Commercial Engineering Department. The new students were received, in the company of the MBA Director, Lionel Valenzuela Oyaneder.

ABRIL1Mr. Lionel Valenzuela Oyaneder, Director of the Master's Program in Enterprise Administration, Federico Santa María Technical University, welcomed a new generation of students who joined the Program in April in the campuses of Valparaíso and Vitacura. During each welcome address, Mr. Valenzuela emphasized the importance for professionals of expanding their know-how and acting on the decision to acquire new knowledge, improve their job prospects and generate new networks.

The director of the postgraduate program referred to the MBA's international scope, its ongoing expansion abroad through signing agreements with universities in Asia, Europe and the U.S. He also mentioned the dual degree program in Catalonia, Spain and the various study trips to China, the U.S. and Europe.

“The international character of the master's program is also evident in its faculty, who’ve come from other countries. In this respect I'd like to refer to the program's curriculum innovation. This is a project that has taken more than a year’s work---a vital point, because quality requires our attention, quality that has been recognized by the AMBA (Association of MBA - Masters of Business Administration), which one year ago granted us a 5-year accreditation. In addition, right now we are in process of certification by AACSB (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), the leading, most prestigious accrediting body of business schools at the international level. Its recognition is the highest achievement that business schools can attain worldwide, and the accreditation is vitally important to us,” said the Director of the Program. He also emphasized the expansion and growth of the study program now taught in the cities of Santiago, Valparaíso and Concepción.

ABRIL 2Claudia Trejo, a student who has joined the MBA Program, commented, “I decided to enroll in the program because I wanted to expand my knowledge and get myself up to date on the latest developments in my profession. This is an excellent master's and has certainly exceeded my expectations---it’s got very good professors, and there’s a price-quality ratio.

When I finish the program I’ll surely be able to apply all I've learned to my work.”
